Power-smoothie pick-me-up recipe:

Making this vitalizing and tasty green breakfast treat is fast and easy:
Serves 1 for a full “meal” or two as part of your breakfast
Ingredients:
- 200 ml soy or rice milk (or real milk)
- 1 large handful of flat-leaf parsley, rinsed and coarse stems removed
- 2-3 large dates, stones removed.
- 6 ice cubes
How to make the green power smoothie:
Combine all the ingredients in a good, strong blender (I use the Kitchenaid blender but there’s a wide variety of blenders to choose from). Blend to a smooth, soft texture. Serve in large tumblers and enjoy!
Tips:
The drier the dates the more intense the taste. If you use very dry dates you might want to soak them in warm water for a while before mixing. Don’t forget to blend until the dates have disintegrated completely to make an even and drinkable smoothie.
Add a pinch of vanilla powder (ground dried vanilla pods – not the artificial vanilla sugar) to your smoothie for a sweeter and more complex taste.
To enjoy this smoothie as a thirst quencher add water ( 100-200 ml) to the smoothie. Add more ice cubes when serving.
Try replacing the flat-leaf parsley with fresh spinach. The taste is a bit more iron-y and adding 1/2 banana balances the spinach smoothie well.
Enjoy!
